SNMMI Announces the Election of Neil A. Petry, MS, RPh, BCNP, to Board of Directors

Reston, Va.— Neil A. Petry MS, RPh, BCNP, associate professor of radiology and medical physics graduate program faculty member at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, has been elected director-at-large of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). The new slate of officers was introduced during the 2015 SNMMI Annual Meeting, June 6-10, in Baltimore, Md.

“I have substantial experience in the teamwork required to deliver high-quality nuclear medicine and molecular imaging services for pre-clinical and clinical research, as well as routine patient care,” said Petry. “I will work diligently to employ my experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to encourage and facilitate teamwork among the board of director membership, extended leadership, and general membership to assure the continued and future success of the SNMMI.”

A member of SNMMI for more than 35 years, Petry has played an active role within the society. His involvement has included serving on multiple committees and councils, such as the Committee on Pharmacopeia and the Scientific Program Committee, in addition to the SNMMI House of Delegates and Center for Molecular Imaging and Innovation board of directors. He currently serves as the immediate past president of the Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Council. 

Prior to his tenure at the Duke University Medical Center, Petry was a faculty member and director of nuclear pharmacy at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. for more than 15 years. 

Petry received his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and Master of Science in nuclear pharmacy from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. He completed a one-year nuclear pharmacy residency at Indiana University Medical Center. He has one year of commercial nuclear pharmacy practice and a total of 22 years of clinical experience at Duke University Medical Center. He has been certified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties as a nuclear pharmacy practice expert since 1983.
